Well, the month of May is fast arriving and so are our expectations growing up in terms of new releases, news, updates to our favorite games and so on. This coming May, we would have another edition of the PlayStation Showcase and of course, it must be up to par with the standards that we already have, or at least close. There are major concerns on how this year’s PlayStation Showcase is going to function, which game developers are going to be present, what major update should we expect and ultimately, are we going to be intrigued? Up till now, there haven’t been any news concerning preparations towards the show either from PlayStation or other game developers. You know, the PlayStation Showcase is held every year by PlayStation Team in order to let gamers know what to expect from their various favorite game titles. But it has come to our notice that these developers would rather keep us in dark about what is actually going on behind the scenes and would prefer to keep it as a surprise in some case. Now PlayStation Showcase 2024 is year and we all in the gaming community are excited. Unlike last year’s event, somehow, people are quite optimistic that this year’s event would be a little different. They believe this year’s event would bring more clarity and information to some anticipated titles such as The Wolverine, which PlayStation themselves have refused to provide any update since the first ever teaser. We also saw some surprising elements on the show last year like the release of the PS5 pro and the development of Silent Hill 2 by Konami studios. As it stands now, there haven’t been any news on when the PS5 pro will see the light of day, but our sources can confirm that it is in development. On last year’s show, we saw the announcement of Helldivers 2, which has seen major sales across board in its first quarter of release this year, a whopping $8 million. We also saw a new Ascendant studio first ever game, Immortals of Aveum. Immortals of Aveum is a first-person shooter, mixed with AI and magic. This is one of the games that sold poorly within the first few months of release, unlike Helldivers 2. Ghostrunner II developed by One More Level and published by 505 Games “blood will run” was also announced to be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series x/s and Microsoft windows on 26th October, 2023. Ghostrunner II has received a nomination for the “best action game” at the 2023 game awards this year. Many other popular titles we have seen from late last year up to this year were announced but surprisingly some fans favorite titles that has been in development for some time now, weren’t even mentioned. Phantom Blade 0, an S-Game studio production, that blends high kung-fu and sword fight action game, was announced but to what extent? Developers only mentioned that it was coming straight to the PS5 (coming soon on PS5), but never cared to mention when. Also Foamstars by Square Enix- PS5/PS4, Cat Quests (Pirates of the Purribean)- 2024, PS5/PS4, Neva (PS5) 2024, The Talos Principles- 2023 (no platform announced), The Plucky Squire (PS5) 2023, Tear Down (no date announced) coming to PS5, Metal Gear Solid- Snake Eater remake by Konami, coming to PS5 (no date announced), Resident Evil 4 VR mode (it was announced that it is development for PlayStation VR 2. Arizona Sunshine II (PlayStation VR 2) 2023 and Crossfire Sierra Squad (PlayStation VR, No date announced).
